Developing Young Minds was created with a simple belief: children thrive when they feel safe, supported, and inspired. We are not a traditional school. We are a learning program rooted in connection, creativity, and care. Our days are filled with hands-on experiences, meaningful conversations, outdoor exploration, and opportunities for children to grow at their own pace. We honor each child’s unique strengths, interests, and learning style. Whether a child needs extra academic support, a creative outlet, or a nurturing environment to build confidence, we meet them where they are.

Hello! I’m Katherine De La Cruz, Founder and Director of Developing Young Minds, LLC. My love for learning, children, and their growth has always been at the heart of this program. With a degree in Childhood Studies, years of classroom experience, time as a Developmental Specialist, and the perspective of being a mom, I’ve learned how important it is to create meaningful, inclusive learning opportunities for every child.
Through my years in classrooms and individualized learning settings, I saw firsthand the magic that happens when children are engaged in hands-on, flexible, and joyful learning. I also saw the frustration families experience in rigid, one-size-fits-all environments — including my own. That realization led me to homeschooling, a choice that helped us reclaim the joy of learning and reminded me why this work matters so deeply.
From that experience, I envisioned a nurturing space where each child’s unique rhythm, interests, and strengths are honored. A place filled with movement, creativity, exploration, and genuine connection. That vision grew into Developing Young Minds, a home education enrichment program rooted in project-based learning, sensory exploration, and nature-based discovery.
Our mission is simple: to nurture curiosity, build confidence, and foster a lifelong love of learning, while supporting every child’s academic, social, and emotional growth. Here, every child is seen, heard, valued, and supported. We celebrate progress over perfection and honor each learner’s pace and path.
